Dignity's Faisal Cup, launched in 2007, has transformed from a small tournament of three teams into an inspiring event with 1,300 participants annually from diverse backgrounds. The tournament was established following the tragic death of one of Dignity’s students, Faisal, who drowned while trying to retrieve a football from a monsoon drain in 2006. This heartbreaking incident spurred the founders of Dignity to create a safe space for underprivileged children to play and thrive. Over the past 15 years, more than 10,900 children and teenagers have participated in the Faisal Cup, with the event even expanding to Penang and Johor Bahru.
This year’s (2024) Faisal Cup is momentous as the annual football event is elevated from the streets of Sentul to the prestigious National Stadium Bukit Jalil, offering underprivileged children the rare opportunity to play on Malaysia’s largest and most iconic stage! It is a testament to Dignity’s commitment to the belief that sports should be accessible to all, regardless of their background.
